15ª edição do MIRA Mobile Prize

A 15ª edição do MIRA Mobile Prize, que coincide com o aniversário de 10 anos do MIRA, apresenta notáveis fotografias vindas de todo o mundo. Por isso, decidimos integrar mais dez trabalhos na shortlist -60 no total – destacando a categoria Água a convocar tantas questões relacionadas com as alterações climáticas. Este ano, a exposição que inaugura a 1 de abril conta com uma obra de cada elemento do júri: Andrea Bigiarini, António Fonseca, Gina Costa, Giulia Baita e Joanne Carter.

O vencedor Marco Prado, um brasileiro radicado em Philadelphia, é um reconhecido fotógrafo que já integrou várias shortlists de anteriores edições do MIRA Mobile Prize. Os três trabalhos que apresenta justificam o prémio e a imagem escolhida é um exemplo do que podemos designar também por fotografia expandida: ousar abrir novos caminhos, novas expressões na fotografia e para a fotografia.

O português mais bem classificado é André Gigante, fotógrafo e artista plástico que, entre outras, realizou em 2022 uma exposição individual no MIRA FORUM.

As 150 fotografias projetadas que se distribuem por diferentes categorias são o melhor sinal de que a fotografia mobile vem consolidando o seu lugar no mundo da fotografia e que a presença portuguesa é cada vez mais significativa.

15th edition of the MIRA Mobile Prize

Openning of the exhibition of the 15th edition of the MIRA Mobile Prize on April 1st, at 4 pm, at the MIRA FORUM.

The 15th edition of the MIRA Mobile Prize, which coincides with MIRA’s 10th anniversary, features outstanding photography from around the world.

For this reason, we decided to include ten more works in the shortlist – 60 in total – highlighting the Water category, which convenes so many issues related to climate change. This year, the exhibition that will open on April 1, features/presents a work by each member of the jury: Andrea Bigiarini, António Fonseca, Gina Costa, Giulia Baita and Joanne Carter.

The winner Marco Prado, a Brazilian based in Philadelphia, is a renowned photographer who was included in several shortlists of previous editions of the MIRA Mobile Prize.

The three works he presents justify the award and the chosen image is an example of what we can also call expanded photography: daring to open new paths, new expressions in photography and for photography.

The best ranked Portuguese is André Gigante, photographer and artist who, among others, held a solo exhibition at MIRA FORUM in 2022.

The 150 projected photographs that are distributed across different categories are the best sign that mobile photography has been consolidating its place in the world of photography and that the Portuguese presence is increasingly significant.
