EU SOU AQUELE QUE ESTÁ LONGE

Curated by Susana Chiocca

MIRA Galerias | Espaço MIRA

Exposição

10.01—21.02.2026

The exhibition Sou aquele que estou longe (I am the one who is far away), curated by Susana Chiocca, presents three artists: Edicleison Freitas, Hugo Leite, and Thales Luz.

The creators focus their artistic practice on the body and its performativity, offering a personal, ritualized, and political reflection on it. The works, which combine image-movement, installation, sound, and sculpture, offer different perspectives on displacement, whether spatial, material, spiritual, and/or identity-related.

Biographical Note

Ed Freitas is a visual and transdisciplinary artist born in Northeast Brazil. His work combines performance, installation, sculpture, and textile arts to investigate the Presence-Installation, a concept he is developing in his PhD in Contemporary Art at the University of Coimbra. Using threads, cloaks, and sensory objects as devices of memory and liturgy, he constructs poetics of the body as a living archive of ancestry. Winner of the World Cultural Council Award (2022), Freitas presents works that tension the sensitive and the political, with international performances at festivals, residencies, and exhibitions in Brazil, Portugal, France, Romania, Germany, and the US. He integrates his practice with curating, teaching, and critical thinking at Ateliar Nuno Fonseca (Coimbra).
