31.10—31.10.2025
On October 31st, at 9:30 pm, at MIRA, Ada Negri's "Libro di Mara" will be launched in Portugal, its first edition translated into Portuguese.
The session will feature a presentation by Livia Apa, Italian translator, writer, and researcher, and will include a reading of selected poems from the work.
Originally published in 1919, "Libro di Mara" is one of Ada Negri's most remarkable works. As Livia Apa writes in the preface to this edition:
"This Libro di Mara, published in 1919 by Ada Negri, cannot fail to surprise the reader with its strength and courage. The way the author speaks of love—especially in the first section of the volume—centering the body, desire, and instinct, is innovative and profoundly subversive in an Italy like that of that time, when women were just beginning to fight to gain their place in the national literary scene and in the public sphere."
An unmissable opportunity to discover the intense and visionary voice of Ada Negri, one of the great figures of 20th-century Italian literature.
