"Metatempo" is a musical proposal that focuses on three fundamental spheres of reflection on time – this finite and inevitable category of existence, culture, and music.
Based on these fundamental axes, the RePercussion Trio presents four original compositions by Hugo V. Reis, João P. Oliveira, Luís A. Pena, and Maurizio Azzan, inspired by visual triptychs of satellite images of the Earth (made freely accessible by NASA) whose central elements are the atmosphere, global warming, human presence, natural life, natural disasters, ice, snow, and water.
Thus, "Metatempo" constitutes a provocation around the implications of time, or the perception of its course, in the sequence of events associated with the climate crisis in dialectic with its causes and cultural impacts.
Biographical Note
RePercussion Trio is a percussion group founded in 2016, composed of Alexandre Silva, Daniel Araújo, and Jorge Pereira. The group dedicates itself to contemporary, experimental, and performance music through commissions, the dissemination of existing contemporary works, and the creation of concerts specifically for this group. Its main focus is the development of new percussion techniques and instruments, as well as the creation and exploration of new artistic works obtained through close contact with composers, for example, during periods of joint experimentation. These periods of experimentation are catalysts for the genesis and consolidation of the creative process.
Throughout his artistic career, he has collaborated with composers such as João Pedro Oliveira, Luís Antunes Pena, Maurizio Azzan, Hugo Vasco Reis, Carlos Guedes, Maria Vittoria Agresti, Olívia Silva, and Agnelo Marinho.
Since his formation, he has participated in festivals such as Cistermúsica, Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival, Verão a 2 tempos, Valongo Biennial, and Harmos Festival. He was awarded the RE_CRE@ First Prize (2025), the Young Performers Award at the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival (2021), and in 2017, 2nd place in the Junior Category at CIMCA – Alcobaça International Chamber Music Competition.
