The XX Element Project/Porto Femme Association and MIRA FORUM organize a photography exhibition through an open call aimed at artists who identify as women and non-binary individuals. The main objective is to promote the visibility of women and non-binary individuals in the world of photography, aligning with the spirit of Porto Femme - International Film Festival taking place in Porto from April 16th to 21st, 2024.

SUBMISSION CONDITIONS

Up to 3 (three) photographs per person will be admitted that meet the following requirements:

1 - The photographs must be authored by artists who identify as women and non-binary individuals, with a minimum age of 16 years.

2 - The photographs must address the theme "Margins" with freedom in how they develop the theme;

3 - The photographs can be in color or black and white;

4 - Images that are part of the email body, include signatures, watermarks, or frames will not be accepted;

5 - The works must be submitted by March 8th, 2024;

6 - Submission of applications is free;

SPECIFICATIONS FOR IMAGE SUBMISSION

1 - Photographs can be taken with all types of cameras: pinhole, analog, digital, mobile; images resulting from the application of Artificial Intelligence will not be accepted;

2 - Only photographs sent as attachments in the email sent to fotografia2024.porto.femme@gmail.com and mentioning in the subject - Open Call Margins will be accepted;

3 - Only images with the following requirements will be evaluated:

Format: jpeg;

Minimum dimension: 1000 pixels on the longer side;

File size: larger than 100kb and smaller than 7MB;

5 - Each file must include a caption with first and last name separated by a dash, followed by a dash and image number.

Example: Maria_Silva_01; Maria_Silva_02; Maria_Silva_03

6 - Use only alphanumeric characters (do not use: ’”/?}{()[ ]+-=*&^ %$#@!.).

7 - After submission, each participant will receive a confirmation email of their submission. As this is a manual process, please wait for confirmation.

8 - Submissions will not be returned. Only selected works will be kept for dissemination purposes.

9 - XX Element Project/Porto Femme and MIRA FORUM are not responsible for any failure and/or loss of the application.

10 - The results will be announced via email and social media.

IMAGE SELECTION AND USAGE

1 - Photographs will be selected by an internal jury. There will be no appeal against the jury's decision.

2 - All rights to the images belong to the participants. Any image used by the organization will be identified with the respective copyright credits. Its use may be included in publications and/or event promotion, with the respective credits.

EXHIBITION

The "Margins" exhibition will consist of printed and framed photographs. If the quality of the submissions justifies it, a projection with selected photographs as a part of the exhibition is planned. The exhibition will open on April 6th, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the MIRA FORUM gallery. The exhibition will be open until April 21st, 2024.
